It's All About The Rugby

After 3 days on a safety in design course I've come away with some great ideas, enthusiastic about setting up the company system. So why is it all I can think is that I don't mind if it's ugly, I don't mind if it's brutal, I just want a win. I don't even care if all the points are scored by Johnny Wilkinson, as long as there are points. I can take the teasing about him being the only player on the England team. Just let England make history. My year would be complete and I'd not ask for anything else. Just one, little, tiny victory. How hard would that be?

That was a rhetorical question. All you non-England fans out there, please don't feel obliged to answer.

World Cup Fever

So we've wired up Foxtel, and discovered (well, I say we, I mean Pete!) that we can't get it to record through our HP easily. So this morning my alarm went off at 1:55, and I was there in time to see the national anthems. England USA. Very disapponting performance, and I have a sneaking suspicion that by the end of this competition I won't be able to say to my Australian and New Zealand colleagues "so who has the world cup?" with quite such a smirk.

The great debate at the moment is... will Pete get up at 4am to see Ireland beat Namibia, or is it a foregone conclusion and therefore pointless.

It's Here!

The nano's here. It's small, shiny, red, and full of music. Yay!

And even better, we have Foxtel. Not that I'm too excited about that, but it means that the rugby world cup is here. We only had Sky in the UK because I got it the day before the previous world cup for ITV2, and the same applies here. It got its first run at 5am this morning for the France Argentina game, and it'll get another go at 2am tomorrow morning for the England USA game. Too exciting!

There's an advert running on Ten at the moment. It shows the pass to Johnny Wilkinson, and him kicking the drop goal. Slo-mo Australian players turning to follow the flight. Cut to a black screen with the words "remember how it felt?". Back to the flight of the ball, the drop goal through... Yes, I remember how it felt. And I still get tingles down my spine whenever I see that moment. I love that advert. Thankyou Ten!
