Running Blog

I've started running again. My ankle is still sore, and I'm having to be careful, but after a 4 month lay off I'm glad to be back at it. The problem is, of course, that I'm back where I started, at the beginning of the programme not the end. So to inspire myself to get off my butt, I've signed up to do the Age Run to the G. The G is the MCG, the location of the athletics part of the Commonwealth Games, and the closing ceremony. Which means that I get to run into it, just like a real marathon runner. Very exciting. However, unlike a real marathon runner, I'll only be running 5k. Depending on how you look at it, this is either the sensible "baby steps" option, or a wuss option. Either way, now I've told you all about it, I'm committed. It's not quite up to Andy Bailey's efforts, but he's a braver man than I!

If you are even remotely interested, then you can look at my running log on cool running. My user name is Thribble, and the password to view the log is Melbourne. The times are best guesses at the moment, because I don't have a watch. Sadly my trusty Middlesbrough FC watch has given up the ghost (I hope this isn't a symbol of how their season will finish!), and I'm waiting until we pass through Dubai duty free to buy another one. So until then, I'm counting seconds in my head, which probably isn't the best way of measuring time! Maybe I should run with an egg timer.

Hey Thribble, found your blog via your link on BE.
