After months of enduring the taunts from my Kiwi and Aussie colleagues (England couldn't beat a junior side, England were whitewashed in the Ashes, England even lost to New Zealand in the cricket, etc etc etc) this weekend has given me something to throw back at them on Monday. England beat Australia on Friday at the day-night match (I know this because at the end of the Roger Waters gig on Friday night he thanked Australia for letting England win!). And of course, very early this morning England beat Scotland at the rugby, finally giving me some hope that we may not make complete fools of ourselves at the world cup. Hoorah!
I'll still have money on Johnny Wilkinson not making it to the world cup through injury, though!
